Comparison vs. Other Juvenile Brands
The Trail Tether is a pacifier clip, a toy leash, and a stroller hook
combined in one. It’s the only juvenile item that doubles as a gear strap
– making it useful long after the kid phase.

Outdoor Adventure Use
Built for more than the stroller
Trail Tether’s outdoor-inspired construction makes it a useful
multi-purpose gear strap long after the pacifiers and toys are gone.
Clip it to a backpack, cooler, kayak, beach bag, campsite setup or
everyday carry gear to keep lightweight essentials attached, organized
and easy to reach.
Take it outside:
Secure water bottles, hats, keys and other lightweight essentials
to backpacks and bags.
Keep small items attached while hiking, camping, kayaking, boating
or spending the day at the beach.
Hang lightweight gear such as lanterns, towels and accessories
around camp.
Bundle loose items together when carrying gear from the car,
campsite or beach.
Create a quick attachment point on luggage, coolers and
adventure bags.
Wear it around your wrist for hands-free carry when you need both
hands for kids, bags or gear.
Kid gear when you need it. Adventure gear when you don’t.
Trail Tether is designed for lightweight utility use. It is not intended
for climbing, rescue, fall protection, towing, overhead suspension or
supporting a person.
100% Lifetime Warranty
I am so confident in the quality, strength, and versatility of the Trail Tether, I guarantee it for life.
Also we have field tested it in ridiculously harsh environments, such as when we used Trail Tethers to tow our Ford F-150 pickup truck.
If it can hold up to that, it can hold up to your baby or toddler tugging on it.
That's why if your little one is able to pull off a toy or pacifier and it hits the ground, we will give you double your money back.
You have my signature on it.

Not your average paci clip
The Trail Tether is the world’s only pacifier clip featuring a metal carabiner.
Typical binky clips have weak springs meant for baby clothes — not stroller
straps and hiking carriers.
Trail Tether’s durable, outdoor-inspired design allows it to work as a
multi-use gear strap and everyday essential.
That’s why it’s useful long after the kid phase.
The Trail Tether:
Uses a metal carabiner to quickly anchor pacifiers and toys to your
stroller and carrier so they can’t fall off, get dirty or get lost.
Conveniently attaches countless lightweight items to your stroller
handlebars for quick access and organization.
Is long enough to reach your child in a structured backpack carrier,
so they don’t have to crane their neck or stare uselessly at the
too-short strap of a typical binky clip.
Is designed to clip over thick padded handles and straps, helping
keep your child’s items securely attached instead of popping off
onto public streets, trails or floors.
Features a comfortable loop strap that connects to water bottles
and keys for hands-free wrist carry — so you can pick up a bag in
one arm and a kid in the other without dropping your bottle or
sacrificing your pinky.
Uses durable, outdoor-inspired webbing, cord and reinforced bar-tack
stitching so you can repurpose your Trail Tether for securing
lightweight gear while hiking, camping, boating or spending a day
at the beach.
FAQ
Why is Trail Tether $9.99 when I can buy six pacifier clips for $12?
Because Trail Tether is not just a pacifier clip. It is a durable
12-inch nylon gear strap built with an anodized aluminum wire-gate
carabiner and reinforced bar-tack stitching, then independently
tested for child use.
Trail Tether can:
Work as a pacifier clip, toy leash, cup leash and light-duty
stroller attachment.
Give you a hands-free wrist carry for keys, water bottles and
other small everyday items.
Work as a multi-use light adventure gear strap while hiking,
camping, kayaking, boating or spending a day at the beach.
Bundle lightweight bags and beach gear together to make carrying
several items easier.
Attach lightweight items such as bottles, keys, hats and clothing
to bags or luggage instead of cramming everything inside.
It also carries a lifetime replacement warranty and is designed to
stay useful long after the pacifier years are over.
Will Trail Tether fit my stroller or child carrier?
Yes. The carabiner is large enough to
attach to all stroller straps, and all padded handles on hiking carriers and
similar attachment points.
That gives Trail Tether an advantage over a traditional clothing-style
pacifier clip when you are using more rugged outdoor or stroller gear.
Trail Tether can also be wrapped around a stroller handle or frame
and threaded through lightweight items to create a convenient
attachment point.
Always follow your stroller or carrier manufacturer's instructions,
including its load limits and tip-over guidance whenever attaching
or hanging additional items.
Is Trail Tether safe for my baby?
Trail Tether has been independently third-party tested for children
ages 8 months and older against CPSIA lead and soluble-metals
requirements, ASTM F963 mechanical-hazard provisions, 16 CFR Parts
1500 and 1501, and applicable Canadian SOR requirements.
Trail Tether is not a toy and should only be used with direct adult
supervision.
Testing covers applicable U.S. and Canadian requirements. We do not
advise using Trail Tether as a pacifier clip outside those regions.
Can I use Trail Tether on a car seat?
Consult your car seat manufacturer before attaching Trail Tether or
any other accessory to a car seat.
Car seats have specific manufacturer guidance about adding or
attaching accessories, and that guidance always takes precedence
over ours.
Is the Trail Tether carabiner climbing rated?
No. The aluminum carabiner carries a published 2,400 lb / 12 kN
component rating. That rating describes the carabiner hardware
itself — not the assembled Trail Tether product.
Trail Tether is utility gear. It is not designed
for climbing, rescue, fall protection, towing, overhead suspension
or supporting a person.
Although the hardware is very strong, we recommend using Trail
Tether for lightweight everyday items and gear rather than heavy
loads.
Why is the carabiner so big?
The carabiner is intentionally sized to accommodate the width found
on padded hiking carrier handles, stroller straps and rubberized
handles.
This allows Trail Tether to secure your kids' items directly to
larger pieces of family gear in ways that traditional spring-clip
pacifier holders often cannot.
How many Trail Tethers do I actually need?
Most customers find more uses for Trail Tether than they expect.
One for the stroller, one for the carrier, one for the diaper bag,
one for your keys, one for the car, one for your water bottle and
one spare can cover a typical week without constantly moving the
same tether from place to place.
If your car seat manufacturer specifically permits the accessory
you are attaching, you may also choose to keep one with your car
seat setup.
That versatility is why our 5-packs and 10-packs are popular
options.
Do I need a Chameleon Ring too?
Only when the item you want to secure does not already have a
handle, loop or hole for Trail Tether to attach to.
The
Chameleon Ring
stretches around smooth or awkward objects such as water bottles,
sippy cups, portable speakers and rolled towels, creating an
attachment point for Trail Tether.
If the item already has a secure loop or handle, you can usually
clip Trail Tether directly to it.
What is the difference between Trail Tether and Tether Max?
Trail Tether is a 12-inch fixed loop with one aluminum carabiner.
It is designed to secure an individual item and has been tested for
child use.
Tether Max
is a larger bungee gear rail with a carabiner at each end and
multiple attachment loops along its length. It is available in
1 ft, 3 ft and 6 ft sizes.
Tether Max is designed to provide organization on a stroller by
creating a convenient gear rail for hanging and managing multiple
lightweight items. The 1 ft Tether Max is sized for single
strollers, while the 3 ft Tether Max is designed for double
strollers.
Use Trail Tether when you want to secure an individual item. Use
Tether Max when you need to span two anchor points or create a
larger organization rail for several items.
Tether Max is not a pacifier clip.
How do I wash Trail Tether?
Remove the carabiner and machine wash the strap in cold water.
Inspect Trail Tether before each use for fraying, corrosion,
deformation or other damage. Retire the product if you find any
damage that could affect its performance.
Will the aluminum carabiner flake off paint chips?
No. The Trail Tether carabiner is not painted.
Its color is created through anodization, a process that treats the
aluminum itself rather than applying a conventional layer of paint
to the outside of the carabiner.
How can I use Trail Tether after the kid phase?
Trail Tether was designed as a capable carabiner-and-strap
multi-tool that also happens to be tested for child use.
Its aluminum carabiner, nylon webbing, reinforced bar-tack stitching
and cord loop make it useful well beyond the pacifier and stroller
years.
Use it as an everyday carry accessory for keys, bags, hats and water
bottles, or as a lightweight gear attachment while hiking, camping,
boating, traveling or spending time at the beach.
The idea is simple: kid gear when you need it, useful gear when you
don't.

Why we started Trail Tether
We thought dropped pacifiers were just part of having kids.
Our son was constantly pulling his binky off our hiking carrier, and toys handed to him in the stroller could be overboard within minutes.
Traditional pacifier clips simply weren’t designed for padded handles, stroller straps, hiking carriers, or the way active families actually move.
So we built something different.
Trail Tether started as a stronger, more versatile way to keep pacifiers and toys attached. But once we started taking it everywhere, we realized the same rugged design that worked so well for kid gear made an incredibly useful everyday and adventure tool.
That idea became the foundation for the Trail Tether system—adaptable products designed to help families secure, carry, organize, and connect the things they bring with them.
From pacifiers, bottles, toys, diaper bags, and stroller gear to everyday carry, travel, camping, and adventure equipment, our products are designed to keep finding new jobs as family life changes.
Our goal is simple:
Make family gear you don’t have to outgrow.
Built for the kid years. Designed for everything after.
Absolutely LOVE the trail tether!!! It has come in so handy and I have used it so much since purchasing it.
Even to the point where I need to buy more because I find myself getting annoyed when I don’t have it for a situation that would have been the perfect use for one. This is a MUST BUY item & I’ve already convinced family members to buy them for Christmas gifts this year!
We used a few of my trail tethers on our recent trip to Disney, they worked so great on the plane, my toddlers kept dropping their water bottles, I was able to secure them to the try table for easy access, no more drops. We used another to hold our Mickey ears while riding the rides that they might fall off on, worked like a charm! I just purchased another 5 pack, 2 for friends that are expecting and I’ll be keeping the last few on hand as gifts for the future. I have gifted many of these in the past and everyone raves about them.
We love our trail tethers! First we were gifted one for christmas and came back to buy all the other colors :)
We first started using these to keep our baby’s toys from falling on the ground. When he falls asleep in his car seat or stroller, we can toss the toy to the side!
Additionally, we use this as a literal extension of the toy when we are out. Often times we hold him at the table at a restaurant. We clip the carabiner to his shirt and the toy stays close by!
Extra bonus: baby likes the carabiners and has a new toy
We love our Trail Tether! We’ve been using it for a while now and honestly it’s a lifesaver. Whether we’re out hiking or just running errands, I don’t have to keep picking up toys or snacks every two minutes. It’s seriously one of the best kid gear add ons we’ve found. It’s one of those things you don’t realize you need until you have it.
As I said in my video, really love this product, particularly as a way to carry my large water thermos. I'm really active in the summer (and fall and winter and spring), particularly playing tennis and going to the pool. This tether has been invaluable to me in just easily grabbing my water bottle and tennis bag / pool bag and heading where I need to go. I really love it. I can also see it already being really hand in the future as a keychain strap/helpful grocery bag carrier. Anyway. Great product, well done.
This is a great keychain! I clip it to my bag, and also I saw on Instagram you can wear it around your wrist and it works great! It frees up your hands
I used it to keep the baby’s stuffed animal in the stroller while we were walking, so much easier than a traditional binki strap! Very high quality and will be useful for so many things!
Love the trail tether so far. I've used it in so many random ways. I used it to hang fruit in my kitchen. Now I'm using it for the kids toys in the car. Love it!
Just ordered a set of trail tethers about two weeks ago because I heard about them from a family member. Extremely pleased with their multi-purpose use in helping me to carry items when my two hands and backpack are not enough. Love the stylish design and durable quality. Highly recommend.
I just love the trail tether! As a solo hiker who hikes with two dogs it has quickly become one of those products i don't go without! useful for so many things!
When it comes to adventuring, my husband and I have always used caribeners. The trail tether stays put and now we have a pacci at every station for our son. Most importantly, we know a pacci is not going to hit the ground when we need it most.
Although I have not had the experience, I can see how this could be used geared towards child devices. But, I saw the opportunity with my reusable water bottle. Carrying around, fastening while traveling I would use all sorts of cords or clips. With the few that I purchased I already have one on the water bottle, one on my cane, and one for the grocery bags. Connection configurations are a plenty and I will probably be finding more.
We use them for attaching toys, caps and bottles everything for everything outside our house - car seat, stroller, backpack, changing backpack, carrier. Finally, I have two free hands and don’t have to pick up everything every few seconds 😅 I highly recommend them for everyone wanting to have an easier life with babies and toddlers, even outside of backpacking ☺️
One of my trail tethers broke on the first use unfortunately. The loop on the opposite end of the carabiner did not appear to be sewn properly. I hope the remaining of the 5 are not cheaply made as I love the idea of the product.
Store owner replied:
Hi Laura, thank you for bringing this quality issue to our attention. A member of our customer success team is gathering more information and will be supplying you a replacement to honor our lifetime guarantee and quality standards. The Trail Tether is designed with a redundant dual bar tack stitch to hold the loop securely in place and support weights exceeding 100lbs. We are investigating this quality issue to ensure no further manufacturing defects. We take pride in our excellent track record of customer satisfaction and will quickly rectify this situation for you. Thank you for your patience, as this is the first instance of a stitching quality error that we have been made aware of.
edit: after reviewing the supplied photo, it is apparent that a step in our manufacturing process was missed, and the bar tacks were not applied. This allowed the loop to slip out of the strap, as it was totally unsecured. We have sent a replacement unit out, and have already implemented extra quality steps in our manufacturing and also in our fulfilment in order to prevent this from occurring for future orders. Thank you for bringing this to our attention
Absolutely amazing! Have it on my baby backpack and stroller now, but will be able to use these on and with all of my gear!
